Track ChatGPT & AI traffic: the visitors AI sends you, and the crawlers that read you
Wazlytics puts every visit from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and other AI tools in its own channel automatically, and records the AI crawlers reading your pages on the server, where JavaScript analytics can’t see them.

AI reaches your site in two ways. Browser-based analytics can only ever see one of them.
Humans
AI visitors
People who click a link in a ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini answer and land on your site.
- Google Analytics · with the regex above
- Wazlytics · automatic A.I. channel, no setup
Bots
AI crawlers
Bots that fetch your pages to answer a question, build a search index or train a model.
- Google Analytics · invisible, crawlers never run JavaScript
- Wazlytics · recorded server-side, verified by IP
Analytics scripts run in the visitor’s browser. Crawlers don’t have one, so only your server ever sees them. That’s where Wazlytics records them.
What you get
Both halves, one dashboard
AI visitors sit in your traffic reports next to every other channel. AI crawlers get a report of their own, by crawler or by page.

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot and more are tagged A.I. automatically. No regex needed.

Add Wazlytics to your site
Paste one script tag, or install the WordPress plugin. It’s cookieless, so there’s no consent banner to add.
AI visitors show up on their own
Visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and other AI tools land in their own A.I. channel. No regex, no configuration.
Crawler hits arrive server-side
The WordPress plugin reports AI crawlers automatically. On any other stack, your server sends each crawler request to our HTTP API.
AI crawler tracking is included in every plan and doesn’t count toward your monthly events.
Free GA4 regex
Using Google Analytics 4 in the meantime?
Add an AI channel in about two minutes. It groups visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and other AI tools into one channel you can compare with the rest of your traffic.
In Google Analytics 4, open Admin → Data display → Channel groups and click Create new channel group.
Name the group (for example “Channels with AI”), then click Add new channel and call it AI.
Add the condition Source · matches regex, paste the regex, and save the channel.
Click Reorder, drag AI above Referral, and save the group. GA4 puts each session in the first channel that matches, so the order matters.
Just want a quick look? In Explore, add a filter on Session source, choose “matches regex” and paste the same pattern.

AI traffic, answered
Two different things. AI visitors are real people who click a link in an answer from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot or a similar tool and land on your site. AI crawlers are bots those companies run to fetch your pages: to answer a question live, to build a search index, or to collect training data. Wazlytics tracks both, in separate reports.
From the referrer and the utm_source the AI tool attaches to the link. Any visit from a known AI assistant is put in its own A.I. channel automatically, with no setup. Some AI apps strip the referrer (especially mobile apps), and those visits show up as Direct in every analytics tool, Wazlytics included.
Analytics scripts run in the visitor's browser. Crawlers fetch the raw HTML and never execute JavaScript, so the script never runs and nothing is recorded. The only place a crawler shows up is on your server, which is why Wazlytics records crawler hits server-side, through the WordPress plugin or the HTTP API.
Indexing crawlers (like Googlebot, OAI-SearchBot or PerplexityBot) build the search and answer indexes AI tools draw on. AI answer fetchers (like ChatGPT-User or Perplexity-User) load a page live because someone asked a question about it. Training crawlers (like GPTBot or ClaudeBot) collect pages to train AI models. Wazlytics reports each group separately.
Anyone can put GPTBot or Googlebot in a user agent. For operators that publish the IP addresses their crawlers use (OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Perplexity and Apple), Wazlytics checks every hit against that list and hides the ones that don't match. Crawlers without a published list are counted and marked as unverified. The IP address is only used for the check and is never stored.
It catches AI visitors whose session source is a known AI tool, which covers most click-throughs. It can't catch visits whose referrer was stripped, and it can never show AI crawlers, because Google Analytics only sees visitors that run its script.
Yes. AI visitor tracking and AI crawler tracking are included in every plan, and crawler hits don't count toward your monthly events.
No. AI visitors are tracked by the standard Wazlytics script on any website. For crawlers, the WordPress plugin reports them with no setup; on any other stack, your server sends each crawler request to the Wazlytics HTTP API.
